Brussels Airlines' Blackout Bus treats stranded passengers to an unexpected sightseeing tour
Friday, May 29, 2015 — Brussels airport is closed down completely due to a power outage at traffic controller Belgocontrol. From 9:45 not a single aircraft was able to land or take-off. The back-up generators also gave in. Luckily Brussels Airlines did not.
To prove that "We Go the Extra Smile" is not just a campaign line but also the companies culture, Brussels Airlines organised the so called Blackout Bus. This typical hop-on hop-off open roof tourist bus took the stranded passengers for a sightseeing tour along all Brussels landmarks, turning dull waiting time again into quality time. Until the airport was up and running again.
